Decision taken to postpone

Specialised Exhibitions, a division of Montgomery Group, has made the difficult decision to postpone Securex South Africa, A-OSH Expo and Facilities Management Expo.

In consultation with the security, occupational health and safety and facilities management industries, and allowing for the negative effects of Covid-19 on public health and the economy, the organisation is postponing Securex, A-OSH Expo and Facilities Management Expo (planned for 2021 at Gallagher Convention Centre) to May 31 – June 2, 2022, at the same venue.

“Measures declared by the President on 12 September 2021 to move the country to Adjusted Alert Level 2 with a ban on mass gatherings of more than 250 people, as well as social distancing, led us to the decision to postpone the events,” says Gary Corin, MD of Specialised Exhibitions. “Even though the shows are 80% sold and there have been minimal cancellations, we had no choice but to postpone the shows. The safety and well-being of our exhibitors, suppliers, and visitors – and indeed the industry as a whole – is of paramount importance.”

He adds that Specialised Exhibitions remains confident that, with the vaccine rollout strategy, the shows will be hosted in May next year. “Our exhibitions provide a platform for our exhibitors to engage face-to-face with their clients, launch new products and stay up to date with industry trends. As humans, we crave socialisation and networking with other individuals.

“Face-to-face events provide countless opportunities to connect with others in a way that cannot be achieved online. It’s our human nature to congregate with each other, people have slowly and safely started re-engaging, and it’s time for business to do that again in the events and exhibitions environment.”
