Expanding boundaries

Occupational safety and health (OSH) awareness is serious business in the workplace. Not only did it warrant a unique collaborative initiative between major South African OSH stakeholders on 16 October, but it will also be the highlight of next year’s A-OSH Expo. The expo will be held at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 3 to 5 June 2025, while it is also expanding to the Mother City!

The Department of Employment and Labour – in partnership with its entity the Compensation Fund (CF) and together with FEM Assurance and Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA) – gathered to launch the OHS prevention accord and unveil the OHS strategy for 2024 to 2029.

Similarly, A-OSH Expo – which is co-located with Securex South Africa, Facilities Management Expo, and Firexpo – provides a unified and targeted platform for manufacturers and/or providers of OSH products and services, to present forward-thinking health, well-being, and safety solutions to the market.

“There is simply no other forum of this extent and all-inclusive comprehensiveness on the African continent. Besides the thousands of products and services on display, visitors can brush up on their OSH knowledge at the free-to-attend Saiosh Seminar Theatre and the Working at Height and Safety Seminar Theatre,” says Mark Anderson, portfolio director at Specialised Exhibitions, organiser of the shows.

“Organisations wishing to interact with a captive combined audience of 10,898 industry captains at the four co-located shows, should consider securing a stand at A-OSH Expo 2025. The thousands of opportunities to network with both your target market and your peers is unrivalled,” he adds.

Securex South Africa, A-OSH Expo, Facilities Management Expo, and Firexpo will also make their debut in the Western Cape in 2025. Taking place from 21 to 23 October, the four co-located trade shows will follow a similar format to their Johannesburg counterparts.

The security market in the Western Cape is expanding rapidly, driven by technological advancements and rising crime rates. Economic growth and urbanisation in the region are also contributing to the increasing demand for advanced security solutions. Several Johannesburg-based security companies recently extended their operations into the Western Cape to meet this growing need. This shift is fuelled by both market demand and the integration of cutting-edge security technologies, such as artificial intelligence and enhanced surveillance systems.

“With this in mind, and reinforced by the Western Cape government’s implementation of focused safety initiatives – including the Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP), which has successfully lowered crime rates in certain hotspots – we took a strategic decision to introduce our current winning formula for the four co-located shows into the Western Cape,” expands Anderson. “This sentiment for a Cape Town-based event is echoed by the growing number of OSH, facilities management, and fire safety companies in the Western Cape. The event will provide these Western Cape companies with an unrivalled opportunity to showcase their products and services to a captive local audience actively seeking high-quality solutions.”
